This past weekend, 2 teams of competitors represented Pierce County SAR at the MedWAR event held down in Capitol Forest. MedWAR is a Medical Wilderness Adventure Race that challenges teams medical, orienteering, navigation, and mental abilities. Skills learned through SAR training aided the teams strategy, preparation, and accuracy as they navigated to the various checkpoints, completing the medical scenarios. Traded in my formal dress this year for a 15 mi hike/ kayak/ mountain bike adventure through Ft Gordon with scenarios testing wilderness survival and medical skills along the way.
