About us
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, Massachusetts MedWAR was held by Tufts WMIG in 2015 at Womaptuck Park. Massachusetts MedWAR made its successful return in May 2023 at DCR Douglas State Forest, and the race director team is so excited for the second annual race in May 2024!

Meet our 2024 race directors below!
Sarah Uhranowsky, MS4
Sarah is a fourth-year medical student at UMass applying into emergency medicine! She has worked on many wilderness medicine and rural medicine projects throughout her time in medical school. Sarah is so excited to be a race director again this year and is looking forward to seeing all the racers and volunteers this May!
Karishma Patel, MS3
Karishma is a third-year medical student at UMass and returning Co-Director of the MA MedWAR. She is interested in emergency medicine and medical education. She is thrilled to combine her growing passion for the outdoors with her love for good friendly competition to bring you this year’s race alongside her co-directors. She can’t wait to see everyone out on the course!
Avery Pullman, MS2
Avery is a second-year medical student at Umass, joining the team as a Co-Director after serving as a volunteer last year. He is interested in emergency medicine, and looks forward to blending his love for the outdoors with his skills in medicine. Looking forward to seeing everyone this spring!
Anna Cichon, MS2
Anna is a second-year medical student at Umass, joining the team as a Co-Directer after serving as a volunteer last year. She is interested in emergency or internal medicine, as well as disaster/wilderness medicine. Can’t wait to meet all of you and see some good competition out there on the course this spring!
