This is the third Blue Ridge MedWAR hosted in partnership with Blue Ridge Adventure Medicine (BRAM), and we plan to continue it as an annual event!

Bri was a director for the Southeast MedWAR during medical school, and with the help of Stephanie, they were able to establish a new MedWAR.

Stephanie Lareau, MD, FAWM, FACEP, DiMM

Stephanie Lareau is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Virginia Tech- Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia. She is the wilderness medicine fellowship director. She serves on the WMS Board of Directors, is a member of the DiMM Faculty and a part of the Wilderness and Environmental Medicine Advisory Board. She directs the Virginia WMS Student/ Resident Elective, and the VT-Carilion Wilderness Medicine Elective. She is a co-founder of the Southeastern Student Wilderness Medicine Conference, in its 15th year. Stephanie completed a Wilderness Medicine fellowship at Georgia Regents University. Outside of clinical work, she can be found mountain biking, climbing, sailing, SCUBA diving, SUPing or skiing with her husband Daniel and their dog Copper (except Copper doesn't SCUBA - yet).

Bri Bennett, MD, DiMM

Bri Bennett is a Wilderness Medicine Fellow at Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA. She was a co-director of the Southeast MedWAR for two years during medical school and then participated as a racer during her third year. She helped establish Blue Ridge MedWAR. She has trekked to Everest Base Camp and the Khanglu Glacier in Nepal. You can find Bri hiking with her dog, Denna, rock climbing, caving, and exploring the world.
